Find anything with the command bar

Press Cmd+K (or Ctrl+K) anywhere in Lavori to open the command bar, search across your projects, contacts, and scheduling, and jump straight to a record or page.

Opening the command bar

The command bar is available from every page in the app. Open it by pressing Cmd+K on macOS or Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux, and press the same shortcut again to close it. The shortcut works no matter where you are, so you never have to navigate back to a list to find something.

You can also click the Search field in the center of the top navigation bar. On smaller screens the field collapses to a search icon on the right side of the header; tap it to open the same command bar.

TipThe keyboard shortcut is the fastest way to move around. Open the bar, type a few letters, and press Enter on the top result.

What it searches across

When you type a query, Lavori searches three areas at once and returns the most relevant matches from each. Searching matches against more than just the title of a record, so partial names and related details still surface the right result.

  • Projects — matched on the project name, description, the primary contact's person or company name, and the project owner's name.
  • Contacts — matched on the contact person's name, the company name, and the email address.
  • Scheduling — events matched on the event name, description, and location.
NoteResults only include records you already have access to. The command bar never surfaces projects, contacts, or events outside your organizations and teams.

How results are grouped

Matches are organized into labeled groups so you can scan by type. You will see a Contacts group, a Projects group, and a Scheduling group, each showing up to three of the best matches. Empty groups are hidden, so you only see the categories that actually returned something.

Each result shows a short second line of context to help you pick the right one. Contacts display the related company, projects display their type and status, and events display their start date and location.

Suggested pages

Below your search results, the command bar always lists a set of Pages you can jump to directly, such as the Directory, Projects, and Scheduling. These appear even before you start typing, which makes the command bar a quick way to navigate the app without searching for a specific record.

Keyboard navigation

The command bar is built for the keyboard. Start typing to filter, use the up and down arrow keys to move between results, and press Enter to open the highlighted item. Press Escape or the Cmd+K / Ctrl+K shortcut again to dismiss the bar.

Selecting a result navigates you straight to that record or page. A brief spinner appears on the item while the destination loads, and the command bar closes automatically once the new page opens.

Typing and timing

Search begins once you have typed at least two characters. Until then, the bar prompts you to type a little more. Lavori waits briefly after you stop typing before running the search, so results refresh smoothly as you refine your query rather than firing on every keystroke.

While a search is running you will see a Searching indicator, and if nothing matches your query the bar shows a clear No results found message.

What you see depends on your role

The command bar respects your permissions. Contractors do not see the Contacts group or the Directory shortcut, and their project and scheduling results are limited to the work they are assigned to through shifts and tasks.

Super admins working inside the admin area get a different command bar tuned for administration. There it searches users, organizations, and audit events, with shortcuts to the Users, Organizations, Audit Log, and Analytics pages.
