Contacts: your team's shared directory

Keep every client, vendor, and crew member in one place. The Contacts module stores people and companies, links them together, tags them by category, and connects them to the projects they work on.

People and companies

Every record in the directory is one of two types: a Contact (a person) or a Company. A person record carries a full name, email, phone, address, and website. A company record carries a company name plus the same email, phone, address, and website fields. The label on each row tells you which type you are looking at, and the icon next to a record reflects the type as well.

When you open the directory, three tabs sit at the top. All shows people and companies together, Contacts shows only people, and Companies shows only companies. Switching tabs also resets the search box and any selection so each view starts clean.

  • Contact (person): full name, email, phone, address, website.
  • Company: company name, email, phone, address, website.
  • Each record shows a Company or Contact badge so the type is always clear.

Adding a contact or company

Use Add New to open the create dialog. A toggle at the top of the dialog switches between Contact and Company, and the form adapts to ask for a full name or a company name accordingly. Email and phone are optional, and the phone field formats digits into a standard (XXX) XXX-XXXX pattern as you type.

Lavori watches for duplicates while you fill in the form. If the name you enter matches an existing record of the same type and the email or phone also matches, a possible-duplicate warning appears. You can jump straight to the existing record with Edit Existing, or choose Create Anyway to add the new one. After a record is created, Lavori opens its detail page so you can keep filling in details right away.

TipIf your organization has a Client category set up, new records are pre-tagged as Client automatically. You can remove or change the tag before saving.

The contact detail page

Opening a record takes you to its detail page, where almost everything edits in place. Click a name, email, phone number, street, city, state, ZIP, or website and type directly over it; changes save as soon as you click away, and pressing Escape cancels an edit. Email addresses are validated, phone numbers must be 7 or 10 digits, and the state field only accepts valid US state abbreviations.

Each record can carry a logo or photo. Hover the avatar at the top of the page and upload a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or GIF up to 2 MB; a small button lets you remove it again. You can also pin a record as a favorite from the header for quick access elsewhere in Lavori.

Linking people to companies

People and companies connect to each other so you always know who works where. On a person's page, use Link company to attach them to a company; the company then appears as a chip you can click to open. On a company's page, the Contacts panel lists every person linked to it, and Add contact lets you attach more.

Each company can mark one of its people as the primary contact using the star control. The first person you link to a company is set as the primary automatically, and you can change it at any time. When you pick people to add to a company, the picker separates teammates already on your active team from your other contacts, so colleagues are easy to find.

  • A person links to one company; a company can hold many people.
  • Unlinking from either side removes the connection for both.
  • The primary contact is highlighted with a star on the company page.

Categories and roles

Categories are colored tags you define for your organization, such as Client, Vendor, or Crew. Apply them when creating a record or from the detail page, and change a tag's color from a small swatch on each badge. Categories drive the filter on the directory: open the filter control, pick one or more categories, and the list narrows to records carrying any of them. A counter on the filter button shows how many filters are active.

When a contact is tied to a Lavori user account, a Roles panel appears on their detail page. Admins can assign scheduling roles from the organization's preset role list and remove them again. These roles feed into shift scheduling, so the people you tag here are easier to staff onto the right work.

Connections to projects and tasks

Each detail page includes a Projects panel that gathers the projects a contact appears on through their task assignments. Projects are grouped, each task is listed with its status, and finished tasks are checked off and struck through. Open jumps straight to the project so you can see the work in context.

If your organization uses leads, a linked-leads panel on the detail page surfaces the open and won leads tied to this person or company along with their pipeline value, tying the directory back into your sales pipeline.

Finding, sorting, and bulk actions

The search box matches on name, company name, and email across the current tab. Click any column heading to sort by name, contact, email, phone, address, or category, and click again to reverse the direction or clear the sort; your choice is remembered as you move around. You can also drag the right edge of the name column to widen it. Long lists page automatically once they pass fifteen rows.

Select one or more records with the row checkboxes to reveal a quick action bar. From there you can open a single selected record or delete the ones you have chosen. Deleting always asks for confirmation first. Deleting a company unlinks its people rather than deleting them.

NoteContractor accounts see the directory in read-only form. They can view crew contacts but cannot add, edit, delete, or bulk-select records.
